Proceeds will fund mental health and behavioral health for youth,
and substance use prevention and recovery for all ages
The annual Reliant Foundation 5K road race will be held on Saturday, September 30, at Shore Park in Worcester. This certified, chip-timed race follows a course around scenic Indian Lake. Each year, the event attracts hundreds of runners, walkers, and spectators to raise funds in support of the Foundation’s Community Grants Program.
The race begins at 9:30am, with race day registration opening at 8:30am. Awards are presented to individuals by age category and to top-placing teams. The event features free, family-friendly entertainment, including local radio talent and music from Cumulus, refreshments, raffles, kids’ activities, and visits from local sports team mascots.
Online registration is available until 9/27 but we will still accept walk-ins through the morning of the race. There is no cost for spectators to attend. Participants can register at the Reliant Foundation website – www.reliantfoundation.org/events/5K.
“I’m proud to say that we’ve had incredible support over the years from our sponsors, runners, volunteers and community partners,” said Kelsa Zereski, President of Reliant Foundation. “Last year we had nearly 200 runners and walkers – despite the less-than-favorable weather – and we raised more than $27,000 to support these community health programs. This year we’re looking to break $30,000 so we can continue to provide for these vital organizations.”
Reliant Foundation is an independent, 501(c)3 public charity that supports community nonprofit organizations across Central and MetroWest Massachusetts with mental health and behavioral health programs for children and youth, substance use prevention and recovery programs for individuals of all ages, and impactful education and initiatives to fight the stigma surrounding these issues.
This year’s presenting sponsor is Amazon. Other major sponsors to date include Bay State Savings Bank, Anna Maria College, Cornerstone Bank, Marianne Felice, M.D., Fidelity Bank, Mass General Brigham Health Plan, Middlesex Savings Bank, Reliant Medical Group, Open Sky Community Services, Bowditch, Mount Wachusett Community College, the Shine Initiative and Stowe & Degon.
