Dr. Jenny Weyler, Longtime Community Physician and Owner of Aponi Aesthetics, Looks to Leverage Experiences in Support of Foundation’s Mission
The Reliant Foundation recently announced that it has appointed Jenny Weyler, M.D., as its newest member of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Weyler practiced primary care medicine in Worcester for nearly two decades before opening her own practice in 2011, now known as Aponi Aesthetics.
“In my many years as a primary care doctor, I witnessed and treated the brutal effects of opiate addiction on my patients and their families,” said Dr. Weyler. “Reliant Foundation’s mission of helping our communities deal with these challenges (amongst others) gives me hope, and I am thrilled to assist in helping others who have to deal with these devastating illnesses.”
With a family member who suffers from severe mental health issues, Dr. Weyler also recognizes the difficulties of accessing quality mental health care, providing yet another factor in her desire to be a part of the Reliant Foundation Board.
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Weyler’s expertise and passion to Reliant Foundation’s Board of Trustees,” says Kelsa Zereski, president of the Foundation. “Her personal and professional experiences offer yet another example of how widespread the impact of substance abuse and mental illness is in our community.”
Originally from Rowayton, Connecticut, Dr. Weyler graduated from Brown University in 1987 with a B.A. in Biology, and then received her medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania (part of Drexel University) in 1992. After completing a residency in Family Practice Medicine at Family Health Center and UMass Hospital in Worcester, Dr. Weyler spent the next 10 years practicing primary care with the Memorial Medical Group in Shrewsbury, followed by eight years with Great Brook Valley Health Center/Edward M. Kennedy Health Center. In 2011, she opened her own Worcester-based practice, Weyler Family Wellness Center, which became a medical aesthetics practice – and was renamed Aponi Aesthetics – in 2014. Dr. Weyler is a Shrewsbury resident and is married with two adult daughters.
